SAN DIEGO, July 24 (UPI) — The news that Michael Keaton will be the main villain of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con this week.
Tom Holland will continue as Spider-Man, he was seen as the web-slinger in this year’s “Captain America: Civil War.”
News was also released that Robert Downey, Jr. will appear in the new film as Tony Stark/ Iron Man, and Marisa Tomei will play Aunt May.
The rest of the cast of “Spider-Man Homecoming” includes Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly and Bokeem Woodbine.
A sneak-peek trailer for the action/adventure film was revealed for attendees only at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday. The movie is scheduled to swing onto theater screens on July 17, 2017.
The official film synopsis says, “A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man, who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain: Civil War,’ begins to navigate his newfound identity as the crime-fighting superhero in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.'”
