12-year-old dies from injuries suffered in Ballpark neighborhood crash

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 4, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The 12-year-old victim of a multi-vehicle crash in Salt Lake City’s Ballpark neighborhood has died from her injuries.

According to a statement by the Salt Lake City Police Department, the deadly crash happened at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, when the driver of a small SUV crashed into the back of a car stopped for a red light at 300 West and 1700 South, causing a chain reaction involving five other vehicles.

“Paramedics took her to a local hospital where she later died,” the SLCPD statement said.

“The Salt Lake City Police Department only learned about her death this week and needed to take the appropriate steps to confirm the information.”

The child’s name was not released.

“All drivers remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation,” the statement said. It did not mention if any charges were being filed.

The SLCPD PR Unit says there has now been a total of 10 traffic-related death in Salt Lake City in 2024.
