Mother, adult son killed in Roy mobile home fire

ROY, Utah, Oct. 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – A mother and her adult son were killed Thursday morning after fire engulfed their mobile home in Roy.

First responders were dispatched to the residence near 3800 South 1900 West about 11:40 a.m. When firefighters and police arrived, they found smoke and flames pouring from the structure.

According to radio transmissions monitored by Gephardt Daily, the victims tried to escape the fire, but their exit was by blocked by the flames.

Scanner traffic, yet to be confirmed by fire and police officials, indicates the mother and son were removed from the mobile home 13 minutes after the mother called 911 and told emergency operators they were trapped.

Investigators could be seen searching the fire site throughout the afternoon.

The names of the victims have yet to be released.
