SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A Salt Lake City home was heavily damaged by fire Saturday night.
Firefighters were called to the scene, at 548 S. 1000 East, at about 8 p.m. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from a front-room window.
Firefighters entered the home and found a living room couch fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was quickly knocked down, but damage to the home was extensive.
Cpt. Matthew Gillies, of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, told Gephardt Daily the home appeared to have been abandoned, but he was unsure for how long.
He said the cause of fire had yet to be determined.
