Sandy Fire Engulfs Half an Acre of Field and Threatens Homes
SANDY, UTAH – June 29, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — This afternoon around 12:20 a fire was sparked by an unknown source in a Sandy City back access road which was covered in marsh weeds and dry brush.

Starla Tucker, who resides in one of the homes which was threatened by the fire, explained that she was outside with her grandson and she heard something that she thought was little fireworks going off. “I thought maybe the little boys are doing fireworks over on the driveway or in the backyard,” she said.
The pops started getting louder and louder. She called officers and they asked if there were any power lines in the back and she told them, “that’s the access road to the power lines, and a lot of the time we hear the transformers blow.”
Sandy Fire Battalion Chief Eric Larson stated that they are still investigating the cause of the fire but that there were no structures involved and no one was reportedly injured.
There will be more information as it becomes available.
