SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – September 30, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A truck that caught fire forced the closure of 5600 West in both directions Wednesday afternoon.
According to Captain Mark Bednarik, Salt Lake City Fire Department, several calls came into dispatch to report a fire in an area where several trailers and trucks had been parked on a field. When crews arrived, they found that a man who was driving a truck down 5600 West jumped out when he noticed smoke or dust coming from the back of his truck.
“The fire had fully engulfed the truck and then started the surrounding grass on fire,” Bednarik said.
5600 West was closed as crews worked to contain the fire. “Our investigators are still on scene conducting the investigation.” Bednarik said. “The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.”
No injures were reported, and the fire was quickly contained once crews arrived.
