UHP identifies man found deceased on I-215

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the man whose body was found Sunday morning on Interstate 215 eastbound near 1600 West.

According to an online update, posted Thursday on the Utah Department of Public Safety website, the victim of what’s now being considered an auto-pedestrian incident, was West Valley City resident Jorge Luis Reyes-Barrios, 30.

“On Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at approximately 5:31 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a body found on the roadway near 1600 West on eastbound I-215 South. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old, in the number five lane,” the UHP post said.

“At that time, no vehicles were identified as being involved in hitting the male. We have since identified one or two involved parties.

“This investigation is still ongoing, but at this time, there are no indications of foul play.”
