Wendover Fire crews respond to blaze at historic air base; building destroyed

WENDOVER, Utah, Dec. 16 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters from the Wendover Fire Department responded Sunday night to a structure fire at the original Army air base.

Crews were dispatched at 8:51 p.m. to the fire, “in the 900 block of 500 South,” the Wendover FD statement says.

“The building was from the original Army air base and was subsequently destroyed by fire.”

“The building was occupied and being used for storage. Firefighters from West Wendover FD and the Wendover Airport FD also responded to help extinguish the blaze.”

No other buildings were damaged, and no injuries were reported, the statement says. The Tooele County Fire Marshal is investigating the origin of the fire.
