WEST JORDAN, Utah, September 10, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police officers were involved in two separate accidents on Mountain View Corridor Saturiday night, one of which involved a patrol car from another jurisdiction.
The first crash happened about 10:50 p.m. near Mountain View Corridor and the old Bingham Highway in West Jordan.
West Jordan Police Sgt. Dan Roberts told Gephardt Daily an unmarked West Valley City PD pickup truck was “responding to an emergency with lights and siren, when a taxicab came westbound through the intersection and the two vehicles collided.”
Multiple people, including the West Valley City police officer were transported to a nearby hospital before being released.
The conditions of the crash victims were not immediately available, although their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
A second accident involving a West Valley City police officer happened about 15 minutes later, also on Mountain View Corridor.
West Valley Police Lt. Steve Katz told Gephardt Daily their officer was responding to the original emergency SWAT call when he was struck by a South Jordan officer. According to Lt. Katz, the South Jordan officer was headed to the crash on the Old Bingham Highway when he hit the West Valley officer’s car.
Neither officer was injured in the second crash.
An investigation into the exact cause of both accidents is ongoing.
