SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, July 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Dry Wash Fire, first reported Saturday a mile south of the Fremont Indian State Park, is now estimated at 226 acres.
A fact sheet issued Sunday by Central Utah Interagency Fire says the fire’s cause is unknown. It is described as “smoldering,” and its fuels are timber and grass.
“Today, fire crews will go direct, building fire line utilizing aircraft and engines to secure it,” the update says.
“Thanks to the prompt response and effective work of initial attack resources, today’s fire behavior is more favorable, allowing firefighters to gain better containment by the end of the day.”
At the time the update was published, containment stood at 0%, the statement says. Resources assigned included a type 1 helicopter, a type 2 helicopter, four engines, one squad, two modules, a hotshot crew “and miscellaneous support resources.”
The fire, in Sevier County, is under the jurisdiction of the Fishlake National Forest and Beaver Ranger District.
