Los Angeles, September 15, 2015 — (UPI) — Chrissy Teigen has clarified her recent “no hot nannies” remark.
The 29-year-old model addressed the comment on Twitter after facing backlash for saying she won’t allow any “hot nannies, drivers or maids” around husband John Legend in an interview last week.
“Just like low carb diets of licking chips, my ‘no hot nannies comment’ was a joke, clearly lost upon many,” Teigen wrote Friday. “What is life. Why must I type this.”
“I guess literally saying it was a running joke in the house just isn’t quite enough sometimes,” she added. “I don’t just go into random rants about hot nannies. The post asked, I jokingly answered. It isn’t that [expletive] deep.”
Many perceived Teigen’s remark as equating hot women as dangerous and men as incapable of being faithful, with Refinery 29 calling the comment “regressive and offensive.” The remark also came amid continued speculation about Ben Affleck andJennifer Garner‘s former nanny, Christine Ouzounian, and her role, if any, in the couple’s split.
Teigen continued to take heat into this week, tweeting “hot nannies joke ruining my life” Monday. She and Legend married in Como, Italy, in September 2013, and the model revealed they plan to have “a lot of kids” in an interview published in May.
