LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) — Colin Firth has joined Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in the upcoming sequel to Disney’s “Mary Poppins,” which is set to be released in 2018.
Firth will play William Weatherall Wilkins, the president of the Fidelity Fiduciary Bank alongside Blunt, who will play Mary Poppins, and Miranda, who will play Mary’s friend Jack the lamplighter.
The sequel takes place 25 years after the original, which premiered in 1964, and focuses on grown-up Jane and Michael Banks who get a sudden visit from their old, magical nanny.
The movie, directed by Rob Marshall, also features Meryl Streep as Poppins’ cousin and is slated for release on Dec. 25, 2018.
Firth recently starred in “Bridget Jones‘s Baby” and will reprise his role as Harry in the upcoming “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.”
