Feb. 15 (UPI) — “Crash and Burn” singer Thomas Rhett is going to be a first-time dad.
The 26-year-old country star announced Wednesday on Twitter that wife Lauren is pregnant and that they’re also adopting a child from Africa.
“We’re so happy to announce that we are pregnant & in the process of adopting a child from Africa! Safe to say life is about to get crazy!” he tweeted to his 1 million followers.
“OH BABY! actually…BABIES! Our hearts are exploding with happiness for y’all to meet our new baby who we are bringing home from Africa soon,” Lauren added on Instagram. “Who is also going to have a little brother or sister because, SURPRISE! there’s a sweet baby in my belly too #adopting&pregnant.”

Thomas, born Thomas Rhett Akins, Jr., told People he and Lauren were visiting Tanzania in December when his wife discovered she was pregnant. The couple had stopped trying to conceive and started the adoption process months prior.
“I was in complete and utter shock!” the country star said. “No one is ever prepared for something like that. It is almost like we suddenly had twins.”
“We feel more than blessed,” Lauren added. “It’s funny to me how we tried so hard and then we didn’t try at all and it happened! We feel like it’s all part of the plan.”
Thomas and Lauren met as children in elementary school and married in 2012. The singer last released the album “Tangled Up,” which includes the singles “Crash and Burn,” “Die a Happy Man” and “T-Shirt.”
