LOGAN CANYON, Utah, Feb. 15, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A natural avalanche made its way onto U.S. 89 in Logan Canyon, partially blocking traffic Monday afternoon.
According to Utah Highway Patrol trooper Evan Kirby, the avalanche broke way at approximately 3:30 p.m. just above U.S. 89 near Dugway.
The highway was narrowed to one lane of traffic until 4 p.m. as crews worked to clean up the snow.
“We want to remind people that this winter’s heavy snowfall and sudden increase in temperatures can trigger avalanches,” Kirby said. “When snow melts it will cause more dangerous conditions people should look out for.”
