WEST JORDAN, Utah, May 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Drivers on Bangerter Highway in West Jordan should expect delays and some closures this weekend due to utility work preparations for the new 9800 South Interchange, according to a Utah Department of Transportation announcement.
Starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Bangerter Highway in both directions between 9800 South and 10400 South. All southbound lanes between 9000 South and 9800 South also will be closed.
This section of the highway is scheduled to reopen Monday, May 20, at 5 a.m. in time for the morning commute, the UDOT statement says.
Also this weekend, northbound Bangerter Highway between 9000 South and 9800 South will be reduced to one lane from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Northbound lanes will be closed from Sunday night through Monday morning to allow crews to shift lanes into a new traffic configuration.
Drivers should expect delays in the area and can use 9000 South or 10400 South via 4000 West as alternate routes, the UDOT statement says. Drivers traveling east and west on 9800 South will still be able to travel through the intersection and turn north onto Bangerter Highway, but will not be able to turn south.
This work is part of UDOT’s Bangerter South project to convert the intersections of 9800 South, 13400 South and 2700 West into freeway-style interchanges, which are anticipated to be complete at the end of 2025. These projects are a key part of UDOT’s efforts to eliminate stop lights along Bangerter Highway.
