BLUFFDALE, Utah, June 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Bluffdale area was rattled by a minor earthquake overnight.

The temblor hit at 12:05 a.m. and registered 2.3 magnitude, according to information from the University of Utah Seismic Station’s X page.

The US Geological Survey, which monitors seismic activity worldwide, said 47 people reported feeling the quake, which was centered about 5.6 miles below the earth’s surface.

One Bluffdale resident who was awake for the quake, told Gephardt Daily she was sitting on her bed when she suddenly felt it move. At first she thought her dog was jumping about when she saw a fan and a tripod moving on their own. That’s when she realized it had to be an earthquake.

Just last weekend, there were four micro-quakes reported overnight in Iron County, the strongest measuring a 2.9 magnitude.

There were no reports of damage or injuries in Bluffdale or Iron County.
