SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 22, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Airport officials confirmed a Boeing 757 operated by Delta Air Lines diverted to Salt Lake International Airport Monday afternoon after a report of engine trouble.

Nancy Volmer, director of communication and marketing, told Gephardt Daily the plane experienced mechanical issues, but did land safely.

Delta Air Lines released the following statement: “DL2123 en route to Seattle from Atlanta diverted to Salt Lake City out of an abundance of caution following an indicator warning of a possible problem with one of its engines. The flight landed safely without incident and taxied to the gate without assistance. We are working to re-accomodate customers on a later flight. We apologize for the delay and any inconvenience.”

The Boeing 757-26D, which is 16 years old, had been in the air for four hours and 10 minutes when the pilot made the landing.
