SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A bomb threat at Salt Lake City’s Jewish Community Center Tuesday morning was not credible, according to police.
The Salt Lake City Police Department said in a tweet at 12:45 p.m. the threat has been verified as false, and the center is back open.
SLCPD Detective Greg Wilking said the IJ & Jeanné Wagner Jewish Community Center reported the threat, made by telephone, just before 9:30 a.m.
Wilking said the center, at 2 N. Medical Drive, was evacuated as a precaution. He said similar threats have been received at JCC’s nationwide.
“This appears to be more of a national theme taking place,” Wilking said.
He said SLC Police were on scene to assess the threat, and an explosives-sniffing dog was called in to go through the building, but nothing of concern was found.
