OGDEN, Utah, July 14, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews battled a grass fire near the mouth of Ogden Canyon Wednesday morning.

“Fire crews responded to a grass fire on the hillside near the mouth of the Ogden Canyon at
approximately 9:49 this morning,” said a news release from Ogden Fire Department. “The calling party reported a grass fire near the Power Station on the north side of Canyon Road.”

The fire had spread into some trees and tall grass, the news release said. Upon arrival, crews quickly surrounded the fire and kept it contained. The fire was extinguished and contained to approximately a half acre. Crews are laying down a wet line around the perimeter of the fire to ensure no embers rekindle.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation and Rocky Mountain Power is on the scene assessing the power station. At this time there are no outages reported.

“Due to access, water supply, and no canyon winds fire crews were able to mitigate the incident rapidly,” the news release said.

A total of 14 firefighters from Ogden City Fire Department and Weber Fire District responded with one ladder truck, one engine, three brush trucks, one UTV, and the battalion chief.
