EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, Sept. 25, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 53-year-old Eagle Mountain woman was booked for alleged aggravated assault Tuesday after law enforcement officials say she pulled a loaded gun on another driver near her position in a pharmacy’s drive-through window line.

Christine Kotter was arrested Tuesday evening for investigation of the third-degree felony.

Utah County Sheriff deputies arrived to find two cars in the pharmacy lot, one containing Kotter and the other containing a second driver and passenger. They spoke first with Kotter.

“She stated she was attempting to get in line at a drive-through pharmacy to get her pain medication,” Kotter’s affidavit says. “A vehicle cut her off and both the suspect and victim one began arguing. The suspect remained in her car when victim one stepped out of her car and came and spoke with the suspect at her passenger window.”

Kotter said she reversed her vehicle and attempted to leave. The suspect reversed her vehicle to be in line with the victim’s vehicle, rolled the window down, and stated she was leaving. At this point, the suspect stated the victim looked confrontational so the suspect (Kotter) pulled out a handgun. The suspect then stated she said she would use the gun if the victim did not leave.”

The cars separated and waited for law enforcement, the statement says.

“While doing my interview with (Kotter), she seemed to be confused and stated multiple times she could not recall what had happened. She stated she knew she should not have pulled her gun. The suspect also stated she did not at any point feel threatened by the victim but felt the victim was confrontational.”

Victim one, the passenger in the other car, told officers she was in the vehicle waiting in the drive-through line when the woman later identified as Kotter “attempted to cut the line with her vehicle. Victim one stepped out of the vehicle to explain she was in line. The victim provided a video of the conversation with the victim at the window where the conversation looked calm and not agitated. Victim one stated she began to walk back to her vehicle and stated the suspect pulled a firearm out of her backpack and pointed it directly at her.

“Victim one stated the suspect stated she was going to ‘f…… shoot’ her if she didn’t leave. Victim one stated victim two (the other car’s driver) got out of the vehicle and stood between victim one and the suspect. During this time victim one stated the suspect pointed her firearm at her and victim two. Victims one and two returned to their vehicle and waited for law enforcement. Victim one stated she was pregnant.”

Victim two, the other driver, said “suspect attempted to cut her off while in a pharmacy drive-through, she observed the victim step out of her vehicle and talk to the suspect. Victim two took a short video of the conversation but stopped the video before the suspect pulled the firearm…. Victim two stated not to point a gun at a pregnant woman. Both Victims returned to their vehicle and called 911.”

Kotter was placed under arrest and handcuffed, then driven to the Utah County jail, the statement says. Her bail was set at $5,000.

“Deputies seized, checked, and cleared the firearm. The firearm had a bullet in the chamber and was ready to fire.”

The gun was booked into evidence.
