OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Ogden City Fire officials responded to a house Tuesday afternoon in the 800 block of Canyon Road.

The call was dispatched at about 1:05 p.m., a statement from the OCPD says.

“Upon arrival, firefighters encountered light smoke emanating from the eaves of a single-family home. Crews immediately initiated firefighting operations to extinguish the blaze. The fire was brought under control, but the home sustained damage due to heat, smoke, and water. The estimate was around $100,000 in damage.”

The Ogden Fire Department and Riverdale Fire Department responded with 21 firefighters, one ladder truck, four engines, one paramedic truck, and one ambulance.

“No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the home,” the news release says.

“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Ogden Fire Department. Nobody was home at the time and the residents are staying with family and friends.

“We would like to remind residents of the importance of fire safety. Please ensure that you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home and test them monthly. It is also crucial to have a fire escape plan and practice it with your family.”
