WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, July 25, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An early morning fire destroyed one home in West Valley City and damaged two others.
Firefighters were summoned to the scene at 5038 W. Elaine Drive at about 2:40 a.m. Thursday, according to a West Valley City Fire Department news release.
“A second alarm was called out due to the number of homes involved and winds that were quickly spreading the flames.”
The fire started in the backyard of one home and spread to the yards of two others.
“The house where the fire started suffered the most damage. It is not habitable,” the news release stated.
No one was hurt, and investigators are looking into the possibility of fireworks as the cause, the department said. A second home had exterior damage, while the third home had smoke damage. The Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
