MOAB, Utah, July 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An inmate died Friday in the Grand County Jail.
“We regret to inform the public of a tragic incident that occurred at the Grand County Jail on July 19. 2024, resulting in the death of an individual due to unknown medical reasons,” the Grand County Sheriff’s Office reported online Friday afternoon.
“Life saving measures were performed, but they were unsuccessful. The deceased individual was in custody at the time of the incident.”
The sheriff’s office said next of kin have been notified but the name of the deceased would not be released, referring to ongoing investigations per standard protocol underway.
“Further details are not available at this time.
“We assure the public that transparency and accountability remain our utmost priorities as we continue to cooperate fully with the investigating agencies and we express our deepest condolences to those affected by this unfortunate event.”
