SANPETE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 29, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office has announced the death of a 16-year-old girl near Gunnison.
The call came to dispatch at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
“Emergency personnel including Sanpete Search and Rescue responded to the scene to find a 16-year-old juvenile female that had fallen off a steep embankment,” the Sheriff’s statement says.
“A medical helicopter airlifted the juvenile to Primary Children’s Medical center where she succumbed to the injuries sustained in the fall. The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family.”
A family member posted on social media identifying the girl as Brinley Bailey.
“Our hearts are broken at the loss of our sweet Brinley. I do not have words to describe how we feel. We love her so much, and are so proud of the beautiful young woman she had become, she had an infectious smile and was a light to anyone around her. Her quiet and kind personality touched many lives in her short 16 years on this earth.”
The statement says Brinley was close to her parents and younger sisters.
“We shared the same passions and hobbies and enjoyed every minute together,” the post says. “The world is a better place because of Brinley!”
The statement shared the family’s faith that they and Brinley will be reunited someday.
“Our prayers may not have been answered in the way we desired but I know prayers are answered, we feel the power in our lives and have seen many little tender mercies and miracles from the Lord! I know that Jesus Christ Lives! Because of His Resurrection, death is not the end, we too will be resurrected. I am thankful that our family has been sealed together in the Temple and to know we will be with Brinley again someday. We anxiously await that day!”
“Brinley passed away on October 27th from injuries sustained in an accident on her motorcycle the previous day. I LOVE YOU ‘Little Buddy’ and look forward to seeing you again someday!”
