WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, April 19, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley Police officers on Monday night arrested a parole fugitive following a high speed chase.
Lt. Dalin Taylor, West Valley Police Department, said Brooke Alerious, 29, was taken into custody after a brief chase that began around 10 p.m.
“They set up an arrest plan and tried to initiate a traffic stop on her,” Taylor said. “She was in a vehicle, and ended up fleeing.”
Earlier, officers had observed her car, and determined it was Alerious driving, with a female passenger.
“We were able to deploy spikes, and able to deflate a couple of her tires,” Taylor said. “The pursuit went for just a couple of miles before she pulled over, got out of her vehicle and surrendered.
The chase started off at about 70 miles per hour, but decreased to about 30 miles per hour after the tires blew, Taylor said. There was very little traffic on the road, 5600 West at about 3100 South, he added.
Items found in the vehicle included a gun, which constitutes a parole violation, Taylor said.
