IRON COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 20, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Travis Michael Rowley, 34, was sentenced to 15 years to life in the Utah State Prison for an attempted crime against a child.
He was convicted of attempted sodomy upon a child, a first-degree felony. Two identical charges were dismissed with prejudice. He was charged in 2022.
The Iron County Attorney’s Office argued that “he poses a severe risk to society — especially to our most vulnerable victims,” a statement from the agency says.
In issuing his sentence, Judge Meb Anderson noted the defendant’s “disturbing history, failure to understand the criminal nature of his conduct, and a lack of accountability.”
“The Iron County Attorney’s Office is thankful for the hard work of Detective Justin Chappell and the Iron County Children’s Justice Center. Their efforts assisted the victim in achieving the justice that she deserved.
“Ultimately, the Utah Board of Pardons will determine how long the defendant serves beyond the mandated 15 years.”
