PARK CITY, Utah, Aug. 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah author Kouri Richins, accused of poisoning her husband with fentanyl and causing his death, will stand trial in the case, Utah District Court Judge Richard Mrazik ruled Tuesday.

The ruling came on the second day of her preliminary hearing in the March 4, 2022, death of husband Eric Richins, 39. Prosecutors say Kouri Richins, 34, spiked his Moscow Mule cocktail with a fatal dose of fentanyl.

After his death, Kouri Richins wrote a children’s book, “Are You With Me?,” about grief, which she dedicated to her late husband..

Prosecutors alleged during the preliminary hearing that Richins also had tried to poison her husband 17 days before his death. He reportedly had a severe, non-fatal reaction.

Richins maintains her innocence.

Her trial has been scheduled for April 28, 2025. It is predicted to last about four weeks.
