GRAND COUNTY, Utah, June 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Grand County‘s Marble Canyon Fire, first discovered Saturday, still stands at 35 acres on Sunday afternoon.
“The size of the #MarbleCanyonFire in Grand County remains at 35 acres,” says a 12:33 p.m. social media post from Utah Fire Info.
“Firefighters continue to use helicopters, with smoke jumpers working on the ground. Primary tasks include carrying water from the Colorado River & strengthening control lines.”
Information shared on Utah Fire Info’s website indicates the fire was discovered at 4:55 p.m. Saturday.
A Saturday X post says firefighters began by placing a retardant around the fire’s perimeter.
“Smoke jumpers & Helitack are onsite,” it says, adding “operations & smoke may be visible from the Colorado River.”
No information about the cause of the fire has been announced.
