The Unified Police Department shared this photo of Lindsey Vanorman, who died after a hit-and-run incident in Millcreek on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

MILLCREEK, Utah, July 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The victim of an unsolved hit-and-run incident Saturday in Millcreek has died from her injuries.

Unified police said the woman hit was 20-year-old Lindsey Vanorman, of Salt Lake City. At about 5:56 a.m., Vanorman exited her vehicle to render aid to a cat in the roadway at 3051 S. 2300 East. She may not have been aware the cat had died.

She was struck by another vehicle, believed to be a light-colored pickup truck or SUV.

“Tragically, the victim succumbed to their injuries last night,” says a news release issued Sunday afternoon by the Unified Police Department.

“This devastating turn of events heightens the urgency for public assistance in identifying the individual responsible for this.”

“Thanks to the relentless efforts of UPD officers and valuable tips from the community, additional footage of the suspect vehicle has been obtained.”

The video above was shared Sunday by the Unified Police Department.

The new footage of the suspect vehicle is from a Millcreek area near Fisher Lane.

Unified police also would like to talk to the driver of a black SUV, who may have witnessed the hit-and-run incident.

“The black SUV, from the original footage, was stopped by the victim’s vehicle and was in the middle lane with its hazards on near the time of the incident,” the UPD statement says. “They may have been a witness to the victim being hit, and we would like to emphasis the black SUV is not the suspect vehicle, only someone who may have information, which we are in hopes they may come forward with.”
