Payson fire displaces 9, causes $200K in damages

PAYSON, Utah, May 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Four adults and five children were displaced by a fire on a two-level residence in Payson.

Payson Fire, Payson Police, and Santaquin City Fire were dispatched to a structure fire at 692 W. 500 South.

“Two adults and three children on the main level and two adults and two children in the basement were displaced,” says a statement issued Tuesday by Payson Fire & Rescue.

The “fire appears to be accidental, but is still under investigation. Fire was knocked in about 10 minutes after arriving.

“Families were not home at the time of the fire. We are sorry for the loss these families have suffered. We wish them the best through this trying time. Red Cross helped put up the families up. Estimated damages are approximately $200,000.”
