UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Pole Creek Fire is on the move Sunday, and mandatory evacuations are now in effect for the right fork of Hobble Creek.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff’s Office, told Gephardt Daily the Pole Creek Fire jumped U.S. Highway 6 shortly before 2 p.m. and is now well-established at Diamond Fork.

Cannon said the right fork of Hobble Creek is under mandatory evacuation orders and the left fork is under pre-evacuation notice.

Officials are using reverse 911 as well as going door to door to notify residents.

Salem Hills High School, 150 Skyhawk Blvd., is available for residents needing shelter, Cannon said.

He is advising evacuees to “prepare for the long haul,” because the difficult terrain and weather conditions may extend the evacuation for at least a couple days.
