SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Oct. 22, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Gunfire broke out in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven at 2102 S. State St. about 9:15 p.m. Friday.
According to South Salt Lake Police spokesman Gary Keller, witnesses said two males in the parking lot were talking to two males who were in a car, possibly a white Cadillac.
“They exchange words, an argument ensues and gunfire erupts, from both parties, from inside the car and outside the car,” Keller said.
Apparently no one was injured.
“It’s surprising, we have no victim,” Keller said. “With all this shooting, gunfire from both parties, and we have no victim. So again, we’ll see what turns up during the night.”
When the shooting started, people scattered, and the two men who were on foot ran next door to Check City where they got into a Lincoln passenger car and left the scene. Keller said there apparently was a female already in the Lincoln.
At about 300 West and 2100 South, officers found and stopped the Lincoln, in which there was only a female and one male. The ages of the people involved had not been confirmed, and Keller couldn’t say whether they were all adults or younger.
Keller told Gephardt Daily that no firearms had been recovered from the vehicle, but said officers were still going through it at that point.
He said no one was cooperating with the officers’ investigation, but some evidence had been collected, and the police would be pulling surveillance video from surrounding businesses.
Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
