PROVO, Utah, Dec. 13, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters in Provo were dispatched to a vehicle fire Thursday afternoon.

“A Platoon Station 25 and Battalion Chief 21 were dispatched to the Y trailhead,” said a statement released by Provo Fire & Rescue.

“We would like to applaud the owner for quickly calling 911 when they noticed that there was a fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, did not damage any other vehicles, and there were no injuries.”

The agency shared tips for anyone else who may find themselves in that situation. It advised drivers whose vehicles catch on fire to:

  • Pull over quickly and safely
  • Turn off the engine
  • Get everyone out of the car
  • Do not try to fight the fire yourself
  • Move everyone at least 100 feet away
  • Call 911
