SANPETE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daly) — A Fairview man died Saturday morning after his pickup collided with a dead cow on the roadway.
The victim, 60-year-old Randall Hill, was driving north on U.S. 89 near mile marker 296 at 5:10 a.m. Saturday.
A heavy fog lowered visibility and obscured the dead animal, a black cow, on the road.
Hill, alone in his white GMC pickup, struck the cow, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle, according to information from the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck ran off the road, rolled over a fence and into a power pole.
Hill, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and suffered fatal injuries. He died at the scene.
