SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Police detectives have now arrested two men in connection with April 6 shootings in the Glendale neighborhood.

The SLCPD says Luis Alfaro, 24, and Christian Miramontes, 23, have been arrested for allegedly shooting at and injuring each other. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Alfaro was arrested on May 24 for investigation of:

  • Two counts of felony discharge of a firearm with bodily injury, a second-degree felony
  • Aggravated assault, a third-degree felony
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon, a third-degree felony
  • Obstruction of justice, a third-degree felony

Miramontes was arrested on May 29 for investigation of:

  • Felony discharge of a firearm with bodily injury
  • Theft/receiving a firearm or operable motor vehicle, a second-degree felony
  • Aggravated assault, a third-degree felony

Charging documents say Alfaro is a documented gang member, and the arrest of Miramontes was made by gang unit detectives.

“Detectives believe a fight between Alfaro and Miramontes led to them shooting each other,” an SLCPD PR statement says. “Additional arrests in this case are possible.”

“During the investigation, detectives served a court-authorized search warrant at Miramontes’ home and recovered a stolen rifle.”

Both men were ordered held without bail.
