DAGGETT COUNTY, Utah, July 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Speirs Fire stands at 48% contained, a Wednesday statement shared by Utah Fire Info says.
Acreage involved stands at 715. The Speirs Fire was sparked by lightning on July 13, the statement says. It is three miles south of Dutch John, and also south of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

Firefighters hope monsoonal moisture predicted to arrive Thursday and stay through the early part of the weekend will help with fire suppression efforts.
The Firefighter Memorial and Green Dale Group campground have been reopened. Other previously closed trails remain closed to the public.
