MIDVALE, Utah, Dec. 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Five suspects were taken into custody Friday night after multiple “shots fired” calls in Midvale triggered a police pursuit which ended in a crash near 7800 South and Bangerter Highway.
Sgt. Aymee Race, public information officer for UPD, told Gephardt Daily, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Main Street near 7800 South in Midvale about 7:30 p.m., when they saw a vehicle speeding from the area.
“Officers initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle fled,” Race said.
“After heading northbound on Bangerter Highway, the vehicle got off on the 7800 South off-ramp, and then tried to get back onto the southbound Bangerter on-ramp before crashing into two vehicles.”
Five suspects were taken into custody at the scene of the crash, while occupants of the two other vehicles were assessed by medical personnel for injuries.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
After the collision, police canvassed the area where the shots were first reported.
“We currently have officers out in the area near like the Midvale substation, checking residences and businesses to see if anyone was injured or if buildings or property damage occurred,” Race said.
“We’re just asking the public’s assistance, if they have any camera footage around the time of 7:30 p.m.. to call Unified Police and let them know you have something.”
