August 28, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Three victims are in hospital today after a triple car accident a Utah Highway Patrol trooper called “horrific.”
Lt. Randall Richey said a white Chevy Uplander was heading up a hill northbound on SR-32 at mile marker two, at around noon. Coming down the hill southbound was a white Isuzu work truck, and behind that was a white Ford Super Duty truck pulling a trailer.
“For an unknown reason the Uplander crossed over into oncoming lanes, first clipped the side of the Isuzu truck then continued in that lane and hit the Ford Super Duty truck, resulting in a horrific crash,” said Richey.
Life Flight flew the driver of the Chevy Uplander to an area hospital in critical condition, while the female passenger of the Uplander was taken by ground ambulance to Heber Valley Medical Center in serious condition. The driver of the Isuzu was taken to HVMC in fair condition and the driver of the Ford Super Duty was not hurt.
UHP is looking into whether there was a distraction of some sort, as Richey said it does not look like speed was a factor. He said there is no evidence to suggest that drugs or alcohol were a factor other than the lane drifting.
