Wildfire growing in Spanish Fork Canyon

SPANISH FORK CANYON, Utah, July 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A new wildfire was reported in Spanish Fork Canyon on Wednesday evening.

“NEW START in Spanish Fork Canyon. Highway 6 at mile marker 189 near Covered Bridge,” says a 5:44 p.m. tweet from Utah Fire Info (@UtahWildfire). “Multiple resources responding.”

A 6:16 p.m. tweet added information and a fire name:

“The #longhollowfire on the north side of Highway is approximately 10 acres. Burning on private and US Forest Service land. Multiple engines, helicopter and Alta Hotshots on scene.”

A 6:33 p.m. followup provided a location map, below, and said the blaze had grown to 15 acres. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

About three hours after it was first reported, the fire had doubled to 30 acres, an 8:47 p.m. tweet said. It also provided a new aerial photo, below:
