WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, March 26, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is in police custody after she and the man she was with fled on foot from a traffic stop late Sunday night.
West Valley City Police Lt. Amy Maurer told Gephardt Daily an officer pulled the vehicle over for traffic violations in the area of 3800 South and Redwood Road (1700 West).
The car came to a rolling stop, Maurer said, and both occupants took off running.
Police learned the car had been stolen.
The woman was quickly apprehended, but the man ran into the Somerset Village apartment complex, at 3810 S. Redwood Road, and seemingly disappeared.
Officers set up a containment area and searched with canines, but the man was not found.
He is described as Hispanic, wearing a red-checkered or plaid shirt, dark pants, and a baseball cap.
The incident began at about 10:30 p.m.
Anyone who may have seen the suspect, or who has any information that could help police in their investigation, is asked to call WVCPD at 801-840-4000.
