Joanne Carson, Johnny’s Second Ex-Wife, Dead at 84
LOS ANGELES, May 9 (UPI) — Joanne Carson, the second ex-wife of comedy icon Johnny Carson and the longtime confidant of writer Truman Capote, has died under hospice care at her Los Angeles home. She was 84.
Ed Rada, the executor of Joanne’s estate, confirmed her Friday death to the Los Angeles Times.
The one-time Pan Am stewardess and model wed The Tonight Show host in 1963. They divorced in 1972. Johnny died in 2005 at the age of 79 after marrying two more times.
A second marriage to Richard Rever late in Joanne’s life also ended in divorce. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Abernathy and Shirlee Alters.
