Oct. 6 (UPI) — Jackie Chan confirmed the fourth installment of the “Rush Hour” series starring himself and Chris Tucker is in development.

During an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles on Thursday Chan revealed several “Rush Hour 4” scripts have been turned down over the last seven years before finally reaching an agreement on Wednesday.

“Next year,” Chan said when asked about rumors the long-awaited film is in development.

“Probably end of this month there will be a second draft and next year probably start,” Chan continued. “I hope. If Chris Tucker agrees.”

“Rush Hour 3” debuted in theaters nearly a decade ago in 1998 and Chan said it was important for him and Tucker to make the fourth film while they still can.

“It’s not about the money!” Chan said. “It’s about time to make. Otherwise, ‘Rush Hour 4’ we’re all old men. I tell Chris Tucker, ‘Before we get old, please do Rush Hour 4.'”
