2nd body recovered from Flaming Gorge Reservoir; victims were Sandy mother, daughter

DAGGETT COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The body of a second paddle boarder has been recovered near the Flaming Gorge Reservoir‘s Sunny Cove Swim Beach, where a mother and adult daughter went missing on Saturday.

The body of the mother, now identified as 66-year-old Ramiza Cejvan, was recovered the same day.

The search continued for her 44-year-old daughter Emina Cejvan, whose body was recovered late this Tuesday morning. Both women were Sandy residents.

“I can report that the missing paddle boarder has been recovered,” Daggett County Sheriff Erik L. Bailey wrote in the statement. “Search crews began scaling back efforts Sunday due to hazardous weather conditions. On Monday, the search resumed with boats and divers. After Monday, the decision was made to scale back recovery efforts.

“At approximately 1120 hours this morning, recovery crews found the missing woman.”

The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office and “the entire search team extend their condolences to the family during their grief,” the statement says.

Multiple agencies and volunteer groups participated in the recovery operation, including Daggett County Search and Rescue; Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue; Green River Fire Department; Tip Top Search and Rescue; AirMed; Life Flight; the Utah State Parks and Recreation and Division of Natural Resources; and the U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement Division.
