LINDON, Utah, Jan. 7, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah County Sheriff‘s Office arrested an art teacher at Lindon’s Oak Canyon Junior High on Monday for alleged sexual exploitation of a minor in connection to his alleged emailing of child pornography.
Travis Adamson, 50, was booked into the Utah County jail on suspicion of the second-degree felony.
The arrest came after a CyberTip linked Adamson to an image of a girl estimated to be about 5 years old, with chest and genitals exposed. The email address involved was Adamson’s assigned Alpine School District address.
On Monday, an investigator contacted Adamson at the school and asked him to come to the Sheriff’s Office for an interview, his arrest documents say. Post Miranda, Adamson admitted to using the email account to view the image, adding that “his preferential age range is 12-14 years old,” his arrest document says.
“Travis is a Junior High teacher that teaches kids in that same age range, though Travis denies ever photographing the kids or doing anything sexual or inappropriate with his students or any other kids.”
“Travis stated that he downloaded several thousand images and videos which are stored on his hard drive at home” in Provo.
A subsequent news release from the UCSO said a search warrant was served on Adamson’s residence and electronic devices, and “a large amount of CSAM images were located. The images of CSAM are of children between the ages of 7 to 14 years old.
“UCSO SVU Detectives are going to be adding additional criminal charges in relation to the images found at Adamson’s residence. This investigation is ongoing at the time of this release.”
Adamson was ordered held without bail.
