Big Draw Fire burning 3 miles west of Neola in Duchesne County

NEOLA, Utah, June 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A new wildfire started Monday afternoon about 3 miles west of Neola in Duchesne County.

The Big Draw Fire was first reported at 3:55 p.m., state wildfire officials said. By 9:30 p.m., it was estimated at 300 acres.

“The fire is burning in juniper, being driven by wind to the northeast,” Utah Fire Info said on social media.

No structures currently are threatened, the post says. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fourteen engine crews have been assigned to the fire, according to Utah Fire Info.

“The firefighters on the ground received help from a large air tanker (LAT) and an air attack plane [Monday night]. Ground crews will be working late into the night,” the post says.

Aircraft also have been ordered for Tuesday.

“Wind gusts up to 45 mph are forecast for [Monday night] until 3 a.m. as a cold front moves in, bringing colder temperatures [Tuesday], the post says.
