DRAPER, Utah, Dec. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Draper police have arrested a man wanted in four different states after an alleged domestic incident in a car.
A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City said Andres Chavez, 46, is facing charges in Utah of first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping, third-degree felony aggravated assault, two counts of class B misdemeanor carrying a dangerous weapon under the influence of alcohol or drugs and class C misdemeanor intoxication.
The statement said that the arresting officer from the Draper Police Department responded to an agency assist to locate a possible rolling domestic, which is a domestic incident in a vehicle, on Wednesday.
The officer arrived at the Maverik at 14814 S. Minuteman Drive and located the vehicle that Lehi police had put out an attempt to locate for.
The notes given to officers stated that the suspect’s daughter had called police and reported the suspect was armed and threatened to kill the victim if approached by law enforcement. The victim and the suspect were both in the vehicle, and the suspect was removed from the vehicle and searched.
“We discovered two handguns on the suspect, one on each hip, and multiple open containers in the vehicle,” the statement said. “The suspect smelt of alcoholic beverages and had a hard time talking, slurring his words. The victim stated that the suspect, who is her boyfriend of two years and live together in Texas, showed her the firearms and told her that he was going to kill her and her family.”
The victim stated she just continued driving and wanted to keep him away from her family. She also told police the suspect wouldn’t let her leave the car because he didn’t want her to call the cops.
Police contacted the suspect’s daughter who originally called police and obtained her statement, which matched the victim’s.
The suspect was read his Miranda rights but he wouldn’t answer questions about what happened during the drive.
It was discovered the suspect, identified as Chavez, has multiple out-of-state warrants, from California, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas.
Chavez has been booked into Salt Lake County Jail and is being held without bail.
