ESCALANTE, Utah, Oct. 6, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A magnitude 2.99 earthquake was reported Thursday morning about 15 miles northwest of Escalante, in Southwest Utah.
An earthquake of that magnitude is relatively minor. No damages were immediately reported. The epicenter was located six miles beneath the surface of the Earth.
The tremor was recorded at 11:20 a.m.
According to a Richter scale information on Wikipedia, earthquakes of that magnitude are recorded daily.
Earthquakes of that severity are not always felt, but can be detected by seismic recording devices.
