PROVO, Utah, Nov. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Family members have identified the man and his young son who perished in a Provo farm fire early Monday morning.
The victims were Marcos Sierra and his namesake son, 9-year-old Marcos, Jr., a GoFundMe account says.
“Unexpected fire caused both of them to lose their lives,” says a GoFundMe page posted by Andrea and Tania Sierra, which identifies them as cousins of the boy.
“My cousin was only 9 years old and lost his life in such a terrible way, both did. I don’t wish this upon anyone. They both were so united and never were separated no matter what.”
Fire officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the two people who died in the 5-alarm fire, which also killed nine horses and several additional farm animals.
Provo Fire Captain Dean York told Gephardt Daily crews were called to 2750 W. 200 South, the Finch Family Farm, about 1:28 a.m. with reports of a field fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found multiple structures engulfed in flames.
York said four workers who live on the property were present when the fire began. Two of the workers had escaped the flames, but two other people were reported missing.
The body of one of those missing workers was discovered about 3:35 a.m. The other death was reported by police Monday morning.
A firefighter was also injured when he was hit in the face with a nozzle from a two-and-half-inch hose line. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Crews from all five Provo fire stations were called to fight the blaze, along with a team from Orem. A total of 29 firefighters were on scene shortly after the fire began. Some hose lines froze due to the cold morning temperatures, officials said.

Police asked people living nearby to be on the lookout for loose goats and horses following the incident, officials said.
Classes proceeded as normal at a school nearby, Amelia Earhart Elementary, at 2585 W. 200 South.
