WEST JORDAN, UTAH – July 11, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – 12 families were displaced Saturday morning when their apartment complex caught fire.

According to West Jordan Fire Batallion Chief Bryan Crump, dispatch received the call just around 5 a.m. of reports of a fire at the the Aspen Pine Apartments at 7366 S. Redwood Rd.

“The fire appears to have originated in the partition wall between two actual apartments and then spread to the structure trusses and to the roof,” said Crump. “Each building has about different apartments and we were forced to evacuate the entire building.”

The Utah Red Cross sent out a tweet that they had set up an emergency shelter at the LDS Church located at 1899 West and  7600 South for the families affected.

Crump said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, they do believe it was an accident. “They have no reason to believe at this time that this fire was set intentionally by anyone however we are still working to identify the cause.”

West Jordan Fire Department was assisted by Murray City Fire, South Jordan Fire and Unified Fire Departments.
