Magnitude 3.5 quake hits southern Utah

BOULDER, Utah, Jan. 21, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A 3.5 magnitude earthquake hit southern Utah Tuesday morning about 16 miles south-southeast of the town of Boulder.

Boulder, in Garfield County, is best known as a gateway to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

The quake hit at 3:44 a.m. and originated at a depth of 8.4 miles.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey’s “Did you feel it” page, 27 people had reported feeling the quake as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Gephardt Daily has found no reports of quake-related injuries or damage.
